What are Dental Implants?
Dental implants are a great cosmetic dentistry solution that can be used to completely transform your smile. Whether you are looking for a brand new set of teeth or just a few individual replacement teeth, dental implants are ideal. Created using innovative, modern technology, implants are indistinguishable from natural teeth when fully inserted into the mouth. They are also much easier to maintain than other temporary solutions, such as dentures. If you feel like dental implants may be the ideal product for you, please get in touch or visit our surgery just outside of Southampton.
Because of their clever design, implants look identical to natural teeth. They consist of a titanium screw that works similarly to the root of natural teeth. This ‘root’ is inserted into your jawbone during a pain-free procedure at our Southampton surgery. There is no need for any stressful hospital appointments with Forestside Dental Practice – we have the skill, qualifications and experience needed to do this safely in-house.
By using titanium alongside other modern materials, we can guarantee our customers a premium cosmetic dentistry solution that will last a lifetime. Titanium is also a highly reliable material as it is more often than not accepted by the human body. Get in touch today to find out more and get booked in for a consultation.
All-on-Four Dental Implants
If you are looking for a complete top, bottom or full mouth renovation, all-on-four implants may be the perfect solution. They also offer a great alternative to patients in Southampton who are struggling with the use of dentures.
All-on-four dental implants can be used to create a complete set of teeth that is connected to your jaw in only four places. With this, you are able to get a brand new smile in just one day! Come into our surgery with your old smile, and leave with your new and improved set of teeth.

What is Involved in the Dental Implants Procedure?
Surgery Stage
To get the process started, one of our experienced dentists will take a highly detailed 3D scan of your teeth. This scan will help us create your bespoke treatment plan, ensuring that we can create the right smile for you. This scan is followed by surgery under local anaesthetic. During this, your new dental implants will be inserted into your jaw in a painless procedure. We also offer sedation, so there is no need to feel nervous. Once surgery is complete, the stitches need to remain in place for 7-10 days.
Integration Stage
During the integration step, we will wait for the dental implants to fully fuse with your jawbone. This can take anywhere between 3-6 months. During this period, we will provide you with temporary teeth restoration so that you feel confident in the process. Once this has completely healed, your new smile will be ready to show off to the world!
Prosthetic Stage
Once your dental implants have fused with your jawbone, we will move on to the teeth restoration stage. An impression of the area that is ready for the dental implants will be taken, and a new tooth will be tailor-made to that impression. This ensures that it will be the perfect fit. Once this is done, one of our expert dentists will join your prosthetic tooth to the dental implant, and your new smile will be ready.

Frequently Asked Questions
Are these implants permanent?
They are, yes. In fusing with the bone in the root of the tooth over the space of several months, dental implants are a permanent procedure. However, for many, this is the exact reason they go for it! Through one procedure, you permanently change your smile for the better, falling back in love with how your teeth look. They are also stronger than any other implant, so you can rest assured in their durability!
Should I pick same day or dental implants?
Same day implants allow you to make a smile in one day. It is significantly quicker than other cosmetic procedures and for many, that is a selling point. Same day implants are also a temporary procedure – we often encourage a repeat appointment to have them made permanent with this dental implant service.
The decision as to what is best for you and your individual needs can be discussed during a consultation at our practice.
Do dental implants hurt?
We’ll provide you with a local anaesthesia to help prevent any discomfort during any stage of the procedure. However, if you’re feeling particularly nervous about the dental implant procedure, please raise it during your consultation. We can discuss the possibility of strong sedation or you bringing someone into the procedure for support!
Can dental implants be fitted to those with dentures?
They can. We offer the ‘All-on-Four’ service here at Forestside, whereby four implants are fitted to stabilise your existing dentures. This ensures that they no longer slip, so you can eat, drink, talk and laugh with total peace of mind. There is no bone graft required with this particular dental implant procedure, making it much quicker to complete the procedure as well.
