What is Involved in the Dental Implants Procedure?
Surgery Stage
When you start your procedure at our Hythe surgery, we will take a highly detailed 3D scan of your teeth. This enables us to carefully tailor your treatment plan to your needs. This will be followed by surgery under local anaesthetic. Your new implants will be inserted into precise locations in your jaw. Our expert dentists will ensure that you are kept comfortable and pain-free throughout this step – there is no need to feel worried. After the surgery is completed, stitches will need to remain in place for 7-10 days.
Integration Stage
This stage involves waiting for the implant to fuse with your jawbone. On average, step 2 will take 3-6 months. During this part of the process, you will be provided with a temporary tooth restoration process so please do not feel embarrassed. Your new smile will be just around the corner!
Prosthetic Stage
The wait is over! Now that your implant has fused with your jawbone and healed completely, we will restore the tooth. An impression of the area that requires dental implants will be taken and a new tooth will be made bespoke to that impression. The prosthetic tooth is then connected to the dental implants in your jaw and your new smile is complete!
Aftercare
We believe in making sure that you receive excellent care after your surgery as well as during. Make sure to speak with your dentist about how you're feeling in the months afterwards, and be sure to show off your new dental implants. We'll check in with you after a few months to ensure that everything is running smoothly.

Are these implants permanent?
They are, yes. In fusing with the bone in the root of the tooth over the space of several months, dental implants are a permanent procedure. Should I pick same day or dental implants?
Same day implants allow you to make a smile in one day. It is significantly quicker than other cosmetic procedures and for many, that is a selling point. Same day implants are also a temporary procedure – we often encourage a repeat appointment to have them made permanent with this dental implant service.

Do dental implants hurt?
We’ll provide you with a local anaesthesia to help prevent any discomfort during any stage of the procedure. However, if you’re feeling particularly nervous about the dental implant procedure, please raise it during your consultation. We can discuss the possibility of strong sedation or you bringing someone into the procedure for support!
Can dental implants be fitted to those with dentures?
They can. We offer the ‘All-on-Four’ service here at Forestside, whereby four implants are fitted to stabilise your existing dentures. This ensures that they no longer slip, so you can eat, drink, talk and laugh with total peace of mind. There is no bone graft required with this particular dental implant procedure, making it much quicker to complete the procedure as well.
